An atmospheric puzzel platformer made in a gamejam 3 days

We made Kin in 3 days with a team of 7. We had 5 artists and 2 programmers including me.

The theme of the game-jam was climate, an obvious choice of a concept is climate change, so we made something else to stand out from the rest. We went for an atmospheric puzzle platformer with different environments and challenges.

Technical part:

I was the programmer doing most of the technical parts while my programmer teammate was doing most of the gameplay. We used level-streaming to only load necessary levels, scene captures and render targets for portals, 3D audio and physics materials for walking sounds on different objects...

My involvement:

  1. Portals

  2. Level streaming

  3. Camera shake / bobbing when running

  4. Text on screen

  5. Check points

  6. Menu

  7. Wind ability (interaction with physics objects and tornadoes and mid air push)

  8. Tech adviser to artist
